Completed Pilot Projects

Bio-Methanol Production Pilot Plant – Landfill Gas to Methanol

In March 2021, we successfully completed a pilot-scale demonstration at the Bangcheon-ri landfill site in Daegu Metropolitan City (the second-largest landfill in South Korea).

Using two early versions of our ICP plasma reformers, we converted landfill gas (LFG) into syngas and then synthesized it into methanol

The pilot produced 20 Nm³ of syngas per hour with a composition suitable for methanol synthesis, demonstrating both the technical viability of our plasma technology and its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through waste gas recycling.

Key Achievements
  • Syngas Production : 20 Nm³/hr
  • Methanol Production : 150 kg/day
  • Continuous Operation Time : 300 hours

Bio-Hydrogen Production Pilot Plant – Landfill Gas to Hydrogen

In September 2023, we launched a pilot-scale demonstration focused on hydrogen production at the Bangcheon-ri landfill site in Daegu. Using 12 ICP plasma units, landfill gas was converted into 100–150 Nm³/h of syngas, which was then processed through Water-Gas Shift (WGS) and Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) to produce 200 kg/day of hydrogen.

The successful demonstration validated the system’s scalability, improved energy efficiency, and reinforced the reliability of this low-carbon hydrogen solution with 1,000 hours of continuous operation

Ongoing Projects

Integrated Waste-to-Fuel Pilot Plant

Building on the successful pilot project at the Bangcheon-ri landfill site in Daegu Metropolitan City, we are currently integrating a Fischer–Tropsch (FT) process to produce naphtha and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

The facility is being transformed into an integrated waste-to-fuel demonstration plant capable of producing syngas for both methanol synthesis and high-grade FT-based fuel production.

This integrated approach highlights the versatility of our technology and its potential to convert landfill gas into a variety of low-carbon, high-value fuels.

Key Achievements
  • Bio-Methanol Production : 150 kg/day
  • SAF Production : 100 kg/day

Methane Pyrolysis Pilot System – Converting Biogas into Clean Hydrogen and Solid Carbon

We are currently constructing a methane pyrolysis pilot system at the Sudokwon Landfill in Incheon, one of the largest landfill sites in the world.

This project focuses on producing turquoise hydrogen and solid carbon using biogas as the feedstock.

With a stable methane supply from biogas generated at nearby wastewater treatment facilities, the pilot plant will support continuous testing to assess the scalability and economic feasibility for future commercial-scale deployments.

Key Objectives
  • Demonstrate Methane Pyrolysis Feasibility : Comprehensive evaluation of methane pyrolysis technology to convert biogas into hydrogen and solid carbon.
  • Enable Technology Scale-Up : Validate the process at pilot scale and lay the foundation for industrial-scale implementation.
